Thank you to the Prattville Civitan Club for a wonderful lunch, gifts and holiday celebration! You all are truly a blessing to those we support! Also, thank you to Karen Tucker & Crew for catering the Smith Center Christmas lunch and bringing gifts! Everyone loved the food & fellowship. A special thanks to Madison, Lauren, Kristen & Tara Chambliss for surprising the staff with gifts today. That was so kind of you! Thank you to Sgt. Skip Tallmage and Lt. Ray Wagner for bringing gifts and the best Santa ever!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Alice and Kearra pose for a mid-day selfie for the website, "just because." You can feel the Christmas spirit in this place. What a wonderful time of year!
Gladys presented Buck with his gift Monday. He had a weekend birthday, but why not celebrate all week? Happy birthday, friend!
Ask anyone who attends the Smith Center what their favorite day of the year is and I bet the answer is PROM! These ladies and gentlemen showed up ready to dance last Friday night! Thank you to Prom Coordinator, Kearra Brown and all of the staff and volunteers who put their time and energy into making this night MAGICAL for everyone!
Congrats to Roger Sisco and Shannon DeBardelaben, this year's Prom King & Queen!
It is with great sadness that I write of former Board President and longtime friend of the Smith Center, Doug Savell's passing. Tomorrow, his loved ones will gather to celebrate his life and say their goodbyes.
How lucky are we to have had this guy in our lives? He had a way of lighting up the room just by being present! Doug was a man of faith, and those who knew him could see that radiate from his every word and action. He believed in the mission of the Smith Center and considered everyone connected to the Arc to be true friends of his. To the Smith Center, Doug Savell was family and always will hold a special place in our hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Doug's family and friends during this difficult time.
We will see you soon, sweet friend.
Coach Sam Peak's 11th grade AP History class had a pancake breakfast fundraiser in which all proceeds were donated to the Smith Center! We are so appreciative of the support of these students. What a wonderful group!
Chad and Jerrod accompanied me to EMCA this morning for the check presentation.
Noah Shelton brought me this bat today. He said he hit the ball so hard in his baseball game the other day that the bat snapped in half! He autographed it and picked out a suitable spot for it in my office!
Thanks Noah! Way to go!
Come watch Noah and his team play at the Field of Dreams in Prattville on Saturdays!

DOGS ON CALL trains and certifies therapy dogs that provide comfort to those living with disabilities, suffering trauma or stress, at-risk, or living in nursing and assisted living communities, hospitals, rehabilitation, and youth detention centers. Mark Vosel and his gang have been visiting us at the Smith Center for a couple of years now. Whenever they enter the building, Ms. Dot announces over the intercom "Attention Smith Center, attention Smith Center, THE DOGS ARE IN THE HOUSE... WOOF WOOF!!" Everyone knows what that means and they welcome these therapy dogs and their handlers with open arms.
Thank you so much Mark, Eli and Lady, for taking time to come visit us on this beautiful Friday! Until next time friends....
